Sezóna sa skončila víťazstvom Piešťan nad Žilinou a zároveň tak Piešťany obsadili prvé miesto v súťaži Rugby XV.
Ako nasvedčuje skóre zápasu, bol to skvelý zápas so skvelými hráčmi a niekoľkými skórovaniam dokonca aj napriek zopár chybám pri skórovaní.
Piešťany skončili v minulej sezóne posledné, v tejto sezóne dali dokopy družstvo s vyššou úrovňou a mohli prebrať palmu víťazstva od Rugby Klubu Bratislava. Dobrá práca Piešťany, lebo mnohí si mysleli že sme to dokázali len preto, že sme z Bratislavy a teda nebol problem získať skúsených zahraničných hráčov. Žilina má už tiež stabilný základ a o prventvo prišla s Piešťanmi len kôli rozdielu v skóre. Určite to bud´ú chcieť v budúcej sezóne odčiniť, končiac tak blízko od titulu.
Rugby Klub Bratislava pracuje s úplnými začiatočníkmi z radov miestnych a dostali šancu si zahrať. Pretože pevne verím, že sa môžeme poučiť z vlastných chýb a tým pádom ľahšie sa príjmajú aj prehry a až potom možno očakávať lepšiu hru.Toto som spomínal už na začiatku septembra 2016 a RKB sa držala presne podľa toho sústrediac sa na nováčikov.
Slovenská Rugby Únia tiež odviedla skvelú prácu, podporili kluby s časťou ich vybavenia ako sú lopty-šišky,siete,zástavy atd….Porovnávajúc ligy u susedov v Rakúsku či Maďarsku, čestne môžem prehlásiť že hovoríme spoločným hlasom a všetci manageri sa snažia zladiť veci tak,aby to fungovalo ( dostupnosť ihrísk,rast hráčov…..). Podobne by som rád začal aj následujúcu sezónu.
Ešte nás čakajú nejaké “sedmičky”-7´s a záverečný zápas XV-tiek RKB.

The season ends with the victory of Piestany over Zilina which at the same time took the first place in the Slovak rugby XV championship.
As shows the final score, it was an entertaining match with very skilled players and couple of tries have been scored, even if some handling mistakes caused too missing tries.
Piestany finishing at the last position the previous season, but was able to stabilize his squad to increase his level and contest the title of champion to the former champion the Rugby Klub Bratislava. So, well done Piestany, because plenty of people thought just because we were in Bratislava, it was easier for us to get experienced players from abroad. Zilina has still a stable crew and failed to steal the cup for the first place from Piestany due to the goal average. For sure next season they will take their revenge, finishing so close to the title.
The Rugby Klub Bratislava has been working on a very newly players, from a very local recruitment and gave them the opportunity to play. Because I believe it’s by making mistakes we can learn and accept to lose some matches before expecting a better gameplay. I’ve announced this orientation beginning of September 2016 and the RKB has followed that direction the whole season focusing on rookies.
The Slovak Rugby Union made a good job, supporting each club by providing equipments like balls, nets, flags and others. Comparing to the neighborhood leagues like in Austria and Hungary, I can honestly say in Slovakia we speak as one voice and all managers work somehow to the same direction and adapt their fixtures to the environment (pitch availabilities, player’s commitment…). I wish to continue like that next season.
There are still some rugby 7s fixtures remaining and few test match rugby XV for the RKB.
