Bol to zápas o titul slovenskej ligy
Stretli sa zatiaľ dva najlepšie tímy ročníka.
Prvý polčas bol v znamení prevahy Slovana, ktorý mal lepšie mlyny, lepšie lineouty a efektívnejší útok. Žilina stratila príliš veľa lôpt pri vlastných autoch a po základných chybách ako knock-on či opakovaných ofsajdoch.
Zápas s vyostrenou atmosférou, kde oba tímy hrali nervózne a niektoré akcie boli na hrane: mohol som porozdávať niekoľko žltých kariet, no nechal som hru plynúť a namiesto toho som dával výhodu. Show must go on.
Druhý polčas začal lepšie Slovan a pre Žilinu už bolo príliš ťažké vrátiť sa do zápasu. Hra sa síce vyrovnala, keď Žilinčania zlepšili základy (mlyny, lineouty) a ich trpezlivosť sa vyplatila, keď sa hra začala obracať na ich stranu. Slovan mal v tom čase však už solídny náskok.
Celkovo sa zápas hral vo veľmi napätej atmosfére a chýbalo fair-play. Oba tímy ukázali dobrú úroveň rugby, veľa fázovej hry a využitie výhod. Útočníci ukázali dobré tempo a nachádzali uličky na skórovanie. Slovan si zaistil výsledok v prvých 20 minútach zápasu, keď vďaka ťažkým rojníkom viackrát skóroval.
Slovan je na čele tabuľky. V ďalšom zápase sa stretne práve s RKB a v derby si už môže zaistiť titul.
Rozhodovať v tomto zápase bolo pre mňa pôžitkom, je vždy dobré ocitnúť sa na ihrisku, naučiť sa nové veci, zvlášť takto pod tlakom počas zápasu.

It was the match for the title of the Slovak championship XV.
The two teams were competing to win that match.
The first half was in favor of Slovan, with a better scrum, line out, and efficient backs. Zilina has lost too many balls on their own line out, basic mistakes with knock on and repetitive off-side.
Very sensitive match indeed where both team were nervous and some actions were to the edge: I could put some yellow cards, but consider it might be punished and let the game going giving advantage. The show must go on.
On the second half, Slovan started with a better leader and it would be very hard for Zilina to strike back. It was indeed more balanced when Zilina was able to stabilize the fundamental (scrum, line out), and their patient pay off when the trend reversed in favor of Zilina at the end of the game. However Slovan had a solid lead at the scoring table and couldn’t be bothered anymore.
Globally, that match was with high tension, and the fair play was absent at the beginning of the match. The two teams showed a good level of rugby, with plenty of phases, playing the advantage when needed. The backs were enthusiast with good pace, and finding the gate to score. Slovan secured his position on the first 20 mn of the match, scoring couple of tries, thanks to heavy forwards.
Now, Slovan is leading the championship. The next match would be Slovan vs RKB in few weeks, a derby match to gain eventually the title of champion for Slovan.
It was a real pleasure to be referee that day, always good to be active on the pitch, many things to learn, specially during such fixture, under pressure.
